Working with my father, we built Light House as an illuminated outline of a house at the edge of the Newfoundland shore. Firmly sited on land, it is a beacon toward a safe landing. The video loops to the sound of the wind.

It calls to houses of resettlement lost between shores: those that set out on barges for new communities and never arrived, perpetually lost like Adrift. Light House offers that crossing a shore, a place to land, a resolution for an unsettled passage.

The glowing outline is also an afterlife for our family’s cabin on Pinchard’s Island, sold when a majority of relatives chose to let it go. A light on shore guiding that lost cabin toward a safe landing, holding what could not be kept intact.
